Contents Page Analysis #1

To help me with the contents page of my magazine I analysed two contents pages.
The first was NME.
The NME contents page has a very distinctive look, and has steered away from the norm of a list, NME places its feature articles into boxes which spaces them out well on the page. Each has an image, page number and quote. I think this makes each article appear more appealing, and provides a small insight into the contents of the magazine.
The main feature article is situated in the centre making it the main focus.
There are several different fonts on the page, this could be to differentiate the articles, or differentiate different parts of text in the articles. Also, to keep a house style.
The page only uses 2 colours, black and white. This keeps a style within all the contents pages no matter how much the front cover changes.
Some of language used provides an insight into the intended target audience of NME. Words suchs as "dumped" and "gigs" are perhaps ones used by the younger generation. It would be highly unlikely for these to be used by the particularly older generation.
The regulars section is quite small and attention is drawn away from it compared to the other articles.

  1. I like what I am seeing here Jade, you are making good progress. Your magazine ideas look fine, now get on with actually making it. Leave yourself enough time to get it right.

    well done.
