Analysis of Feature Article #1

The first feature article I have chosen to analyse is from 'Mixmag', and is on rapper Tinie Tempah. It is titled "Big in the game". The first pages are set on a double page spread, the first page is a picture of the artist, on the second page the title, a small introduction, and the beginning of the article. Also featured is a picture of a collaborating artist, and names of writers and photographers. The article all together is only 3 pages long, quite short for a feature article. On the third page, a main image, which the text overlaps onto, is used. This image is of a live concert. One more image is used on the third page, this is again of the artists. Pull-out quotes are also used on this page. One colour scheme is used throughout, but 4 different fonts are used around the main article. The writing is laid out onto columns. The content of the writing talks as though the reader will know quite a lot about this artist already, assuming the knowledge of the reader. It uses facts and figures, talks about his success, compares him to some artist and talks about collaborations, and some hard times during his career than Tinie Tempah has experienced. The writing is also of quite a high standard intellectual wise, although it does not seem to use any language specific to that genre of music. Which in some ways, is odd, as the magazine assumes the reader knows a lot about this particular reader yet it doesn't use language relevant to that particular music scene.
