Journalistic Writing Piece: Album Review #1

This is my first piece of journalistic writing, I aimed it to be in the style of something that might be included in NME.

Miike Snow Album Review
Arriving onto the scene with new electronic sounds and echoing vocals, Miike Snow have certainly excelled themselves. Be warned though, it isn't for everyone. However, you have to appreciate the utter genius Miike Snow have created in their debut album. The album begins with "Animal" a tuneful, catchy track, pleasing to the ear panels. And so the album starts on a moderately happy and inviting vibe, although, I would've expected something a little more dramatic or surreal. I mean, c'mon, their logo is a Jackalope! Nevertheless, after you've done being pleasure by "Animal" via the ear, 'Burial' hits you. Again, with the gratified tones, accompanied with, well, just normal vocals. Until the piano hits perfect harmony with the vocals rising an octave, you have no idea what Miike Snow are really about. Then, eventually, we get to track 3. "Silvia", and finally we find the perfect combination that we've been longing for. Andrew Wyatt certainly does combine both instruments and vocals beautifully yet hauntingly. At this point, the goosebumps could be about to arrive. 'Silvia' is a recommended track to listen out for. The rest of the album seems to follow the pattern of eerie, mysterious yet incredibly (sometimes!!) joyous songs. All seem to hit the musical nail on the head. We do have the exception of a handful of upbeat songs, that with the particular "Miike Snow" sound, seem to work. The album ends on a perfect note. Slow, dreamy and in the world of Miike Snow, I would guess, acoustic. So there you have it, Miike Snow in all their amazing glory. This album is one for the CD collection.
