1. I used a drop cap to make the text aesthetically pleasing. It adds colour to the text and gives it a nice start to encourage the reader to read.
2. I made sure a kicker was definitely included in my work as when researching I found it was a convention of nearly every magazine, and although I would've liked my magazine to steer slightly away from the 'norm' I felt it important to keep some features to encourage readers. The kicker gives a short introduction to the text and is usually how the reader decides if the article is worth reading or not.
3. This is my title, I think without the title this page would not work at all. The title allows readers to flick through and pick out articles they particularly want to use and prevents negative space.
4. I used gutters as it is a convention of all magazines and to break the text up. Without gutters the text without be aesthetically displeasing and there would be no point at all in reading it.
5. This is my pull-out quote, I felt it important to use this convention of magazines to entice potential readers. I feel the pull-out quote must be interesting so I tried to use a slight cliff-hanger of a quote so the reader would be encouraged to find out the story behind it.
6. This is the main image I decided to use on the page. I decided to uncover the model on the inside so he could be more recognisable for new readers. I decided to use a shot where he was smiling to reflect on the article itself which in my opinion, is laid-back and humourous.
