Front Page

1. This is the masthead (Main Title) for the magazine. This provides brand recognition and is obviously, what every good magazine cover should definitely include. I chose to use Times New Roman as the font for my title. I think this ties in well with the theme of my magazine. I used blue as quite a neutral colour which I believe suits the grey background.

2. This is my magazines dateline. This is a convention of all magazines. I chose my magazine to be issued monthly and therefore only included a month in the date instead of a specific day. I think the date is important, this could aid situations such as when a customer is looking for back issues of a magazine.

3. The selling line of "rock and indie news" creates a brand identity for the magazine and allows readers to gain an understanding of the content.

4. This is my magazines main image. I used a male figure and made him pose using an obscene gesture. I think this ties in well with this particular genre of music magazine and its readers seem to enjoy expletives. Even though the models face is covered slightly by his hand I still think this works. Here I have assumed that my audience will recognise this person whether his face is slightly covered or not.

5. These are my cover lines, my main cover line “British Daylight” is also included here too. I haven’t made it very obvious that this in fact my main article, so I made it the first article in the list. I used different fonts and colours to help distinguish between titles and small kickers.

6. This is my magazines 'in-sight' piece. I feel this works well as it, again, gives the reader some in-sight as to the content of the magazine. Using two images provide good colour to the cover without over crowding it. I made sure a border was included around the image to make it stand out. I found a lot of magazines included 'Poster Specials' during my research.

7. The barcode is situated in the corner and discreet so it does not distract readers. It also includes the price, as this is also discreet it, cleverly, draws the reader in before they see the price. Also a website given, provides easy recognition.
